May you allow this reproduction to stand as a reminder in your space that peace is built, not given, one piece at a time over however long it takes and that what surfaces in the dark only wants to be seen.
I painted this the way we learn to love...slowly.
And out of order,
picking up a piece wherever I found it and asking it to belong.
This piece took five years. Not because I was slow,
but because grief and wonder don't arrive on the same schedule,
and I had to wait for both.
Low in the frame, something reaches up out of the dark
not to scare you.Just to remind you that what doesn't leave
learns, eventually, to surface more gently.
